This weekend will be a huge challenge for me as I attempt to create some small studies (not detailed realism paintings like I love to do) for the Annapolis Royal Community Art Centre's annual fundraiser. There will be around 80 local and visiting artists landing in town for the first post-Covid plein air event since 2019.
There will be a buy it now featured price on all art gathered by volunteers, one studio piece per artist for sale, and a daily silent auction of the daily artwork from 5-6pm in the local Legion's huge auditorium, arranged on 4'x4' display boards for each artist and in alphabetical order by artists' name. Lots of volunteers will be coming and going to help make this event a success. If you're in the area, you will see artists not only in town, but in the outlying areas with their easels or laps, set up to create!
Either myself or Steve will post updates as the weekend progresses. As I am a studio painter, I do not travel light......ahem.... so fold-up wagon (filled with half my studio supplies) in tow, I'll be setting up my french easel among the pros, and we'll see what happens over the course of two days rain or shine (and we may end up with both). Wish me luck!
